QUOTE OF THE MONTH: “I wrote [Every Rose Has Its Thorns] in a mini-Winnebago outside a honky-tonk in Dallas, where we had played to maybe 50 or 100 people. I came back to the bus, me and my girl at the time had broken up and it just sparked me. Music saved my life.” -Bret Michaels of Poison, speaking of the group’s 1988 Number One hit in an interview with USA Today.

ALBUM & EP NEWS
DIERKS BENTLEY

DIERKS BENTLEY: Following a summer packed with standout performances and fan-favorite collaborations, multi-Platinum singer-songwriter Dierks Bentley is expanding his 11th studio album with Broken Branches Extended, released October 3. Bentley continues to grow his signature blend of against-the-grain creative courage, offering two brand new tracks, including the rowdy standout “IYKYK” and the driving, dobro-laced “All Night to Figure It Out.” Listen/save Broken Branches Extended here.
The punchy foot-stomper “IYKYK” comes out swinging with a spirited mandolin riff, courtesy of Charlie Worsham, that hits like a honky tonk anthem on overdrive. With lyrical nods to fiddle, steel guitar, Natty Light and Friday nights, Bentley leans into a defiant celebration of the country way of life—one that doesn’t need explaining if you already live it. Meanwhile, “All Night to Figure It Out” sets the (acoustic) mood for a little romantic research. Burning with slow-grooving, stomp-and-clap desire, the dobro-drenched jangle rocker features a loose, casual sway, with Bentley’s easy vocal in no hurry for the moment to end.
The two new tracks join Broken Branches’ original 11. Rooted in raw honesty and storytelling, the album embraces life’s outliers and underdogs with songs about resilience, change, and connection. Praised for its “distinctive and daring sound” (Esquire), the original collection features a cross-generational lineup of collaborators—including John Anderson, Riley Green, Miranda Lambert, and Stephen Wilson Jr. More at Dierks.com, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and YouTube.

Of the project, Combs shares, “Still working on my new album that’ll be out early next year, but 3 songs from it are ready now and I couldn’t wait to get y’all some new music, so I’m releasing them this Friday, October 3 as The Prequel. Songs will be ‘Days Like These,’ ‘15 Minutes’ and ‘My Kinda Saturday Night,’ which next year’s tour will be named after. I’ll have more news on that very soon.”
The release adds to yet another monumental year for Combs, who recently made history as the first country artist ever to headline both Bonnaroo and Lollapalooza. Additionally, Combs released his latest single, “Back in the Saddle,” earlier this summer, which is currently #8 on the Billboard Country Airplay chart and rising. Combs is a multi-diamond, award-winning artist from Asheville, NC. In the midst of yet another triumphant year, Combs is nominated for three awards at the 2025 CMA Awards. COLT FORD

COLT FORD: Country music trailblazer Colt Ford has announced the release of his brand-new album, Little Out There, available everywhere on November 7, 2025 (pre-save here) via Average Joes Entertainment. The project marks Ford’s first full-length release since his near-fatal heart attack in April 2024 – a powerful comeback story underscored by resilience, passion, and a renewed creative fire.
Along with the album announcement, the multi-platinum artist dropped a new single, “Country AF” featuring Jay Webb, available now on all streaming platforms. The rowdy, unapologetic anthem channels Ford’s signature country swagger, blending hip-hop energy, Southern grit, and sharp lyricism––penned by Michael Hardy, Jaren Johnston, and Jesse Frasure.
Little Out There showcases Ford’s ability to push boundaries while staying rooted in authentic country storytelling. The album boasts a star-studded lineup of collaborators, including previously released tracks featuring Michael Ray, Yelawolf, and more, further cementing Ford’s reputation as a genre-bending pioneer.
“After everything I’ve been through, this album means more to me than anything I’ve ever done,” says Ford. “’Little Out There’ is about living life fully, appreciating second chances, and reconnecting with my fans in a real way. It’s been a hard road, but I’m excited to be here and sharing another album with the world.” More at ColtFord.com, Instagram, X and YouTube.
CHARLES WESLEY GODWIN

CHARLES WESLEY GODWIN: West Virginia native Charles Wesley Godwin has released his rollicking new album Live From The Steel City (listen/play here). A 23-song collection, the highly anticipated project has been praised by Country Central, Whiskey Riff and more.
“There’s just something about the energy of a live crowd that you can’t replicate in a studio, and I think that shines through on this album in a big way,” Godwin shared. “Stage AE was a special place to be on September 13, 2024, and now everyone can experience it with us. Let’s go!”
To preview the album, Godwin released a three-song sampler in September featuring “Cue Country Roads,” “Family Ties” and “Hardwood Floors” – each reflecting the unforgettable moments in his live show. The live album was recorded at last year’s sold-out show at Stage AE outdoors in Pittsburgh, Pa. The album features songs from his most recent studio album Family Ties (2023), like “All Again,” “Another Leaf” and “Miner Imperfections,” as well as tracks from 2021’s How The Mighty Fall (“Jesse,” “Temporary Town,” “Strong”) and breakout favorites from Seneca (2019) including “Hardwood Floors,” “Seneca Creek” and more. HARDY

HARDY: Off the back of the release of his highly anticipated new album COUNTRY! COUNTRY! HARDY unveiled its deluxe edition, COUNTRY! COUNTRY! COUNTRY! on Sept 29. The deluxe LP offers brand-new song “Good Ole Boy” as well as stripped-back, acoustic versions of tracks “Dog Years,” “Country In Me” and “Take the Country and Run.” The official music video for “Good Ole Boy” premiered via CMT, featured across their channels and billboards in Times Square—watch it here. Get COUNTRY! COUNTRY! COUNTRY! here.
COUNTRY! COUNTRY! and its singles “Dog Years,” “Bottomland”—watch the music video here—and “Bro Country” have received enthusiastic early acclaim from Rolling Stone, Billboard, Forbes, Holler, Entertainment Tonight and more.
The new album marks HARDY’s return to his roots, written in the wake of his much-lauded rock album Quit!!,released last year to widespread critical acclaim. While he loved the thrash of jumping headfirst into the rock world, he missed his community: the peers he wrote #1 country radio hits and put together the HIXTAPE series with. After a step away, he felt refreshed.
COUNTRY! COUNTRY! takes its name literally, ranging from celebrations of his youth in the Mississippi mud—“Bottomland” being named for a specific camo pattern HARDY favors for hunting—to commentary on the state of country music at large.

RUNAWAY JUNE

RUNAWAY JUNE: QHMG / Quartz Hill Records’ Gold-selling trio Runaway June has released their13-track sophomore album, New Kind of Emotion. Save/play here.
Gleaming with country-pop sheen yet anchored by traditional down-home fiddle, mandolin and pedal steel, New Kind of Emotion is a modern country celebration of good times and girl power, friendship and independence, and romantic love that’s wanted but not needed. The result is an uplifting and empowering album, of which Runaway June founding member Jennifer Wayne says, “Even the sad songs are fun!”
Runaway June band members – Jennifer Wayne (vocals, rhythm guitar), Natalie Stovall (vocals, fiddle, mandolin) and Stevie Woodward (lead vocals and guitar, harmonica) – co-wrote 11 of the 13 tracks on New Kind of Emotion. The musically adventurous trio pooled the talents of five separate Nashville producers – multiple-Grammy winners Kristian Bush (Sugarland) and Ron Fair (Christina Aguilera) as well as Mickey Jack Cones (Joe Nichols), Stone Aielli and Austin Moody.
“I want people to know that this album is authentically Runaway June,” says Natalie. “It’s us searching for who we are, and you’ll hear some different influences because it spans a three-year period for us. We were trying different things and we were in different stages of life, so the album really puts a stamp on that moment in time for us.”

LAUREN WATKINS

LAUREN WATKINS: Big Loud Records / Songs & Daughters songstress Lauren Watkins releases her second full-length album In A Perfect World, Oct. 10. Pre-save / pre-add here. The 10-track collection captures the songwriter stepping into balance, where the fast lane of arena tours collides with quiet nights building a home with her husband. Watkins treated fans to the final track before the record’s release, teaming up with John Morgan for “Slippery Slope” on Sept. 19. Listen here.
“I am so beyond proud of this music,” shares Watkins. “I’ve lived so much life in the past couple years, from playing shows all over the world and spending half of my time on the road, to building a sweet little life in a farmhouse with my husband. It’s made me appreciate so many parts of all of it. I’ve started embracing the simple things just as much as the chaos. And that’s what inspired these 10 songs. It paints a good picture of what my world looks like these days, but I really hope people can see their own world within it too.”
Produced by CMA/ACM Award winner and husband Will Bundy, with additional co-production from Joey Moi, the album features 10 songs co-written by Watkins with writing contributions from Trannie Anderson, Rodney Clawson, Natalie Hemby, Mark Trussell and more. COUNTRY MUSIC HoF NEWS

COUNTRY MUSIC HoF NEWS: Open November 14, the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum’s latest exhibition, Muscle Shoals: Low Rhythm Rising explores how an Alabama community developed a distinctive sound, became a global recording epicenter in the 1960s and 1970s, and continues to inspire music today. The exhibit kicks off with a full weekend of programming:
Friday, November 14: Muscle Shoals: Opening Concert Celebration with performances by Tiera Kennedy, Bettye LaVette, Wendy Moten, Spooner Oldham, Dan Penn, Shenandoah, Maggie Rose, and John Paul White, with house band led by Will McFarlane.

Rooted in Baldridge’s personal brand of Farm, Faith and Family, “Call Me If You Get One” draws inspiration mirrored in his own upbringing in southern Illinois. MATT COOPER

MATT COOPER: QHMG / Quartz Hill Records’ genre-blending country artist, Matt Cooper, has unveiled his second music release on the label, the high-octane fantasy “Real Fast Car,” as both an audio track and performance video. Stream/listen to “Real Fast Car” here; watch the official performance video here and the visualizer video here.
One of the most feel-good lost-love songs you’ll ever hear, “Real Fast Car” is a four-on-the-floor banger whose soundscape focuses on the high speeds a vehicle would need to travel back in time, rather than on the weight of romantic regret. The track accelerates to a thumping, vast and echoing chorus that races to recapture sweet teenage dreams and an unforgettable first love.
“That first kiss or first dance, or even the first mistake that you make – those are important moments,” says Cooper. “This song actually took me the longest it’s ever taken me to write and record a song, and it’s super special to me because it’s one of those songs that just takes you back in time.”
Signing with Quartz Hill Records in July this year, Cooper is currently on a nationwide radio tour to support his life-affirming debut single, “Highs & Lows,” now at country radio. Cooper’s catalog has surpassed 118 million streams and 3.1 million YouTube views. More at MattCooperMusic.com, Instagram, Facebook, TikTokand YouTube.
VINCE GILL

VINCE GILL: Vince Gill’s iconic and beloved song “Go Rest High on that Mountain” celebrated its 30th anniversary this summer with the release of an extended version that includes a new verse. Listen here. The now RIAA certified double-platinum single is one of the most significant and enduring songs in country music having resonated with listeners around the world over the last three decades. In 1996 the song was awarded two Grammys for Best Male Country Vocal Performance and Best Country Song, a CMA Award for Song of the Year, and in 1997 received BMI’s Most Performed Song award.
Gill was inspired to write the song following the death of his friend, country singer and at-the-time labelmate Keith Whitley, but it was the death of Gill’s brother Bob in 1993 that compelled him to complete it. However, in 2019 during one of his Christmas at the Ryman performances with wife Amy Grant, Gill performed the song but included a new verse. “The last thirty years I’ve always felt like something was missing from this song,” Gill explained recently. “With this new third verse I finally feel like the song is complete.”
In updating the recording, Gill used all the original tracks adding only his vocals for the new verse. Find Vince Gill’s tour info here; Follow on Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and YouTube.
TRACE NIXON

TRACE NIXON: “Ready For The Takin’ (When You Are)” the latest music from up-and-coming Country traditionalist Trace Nixon, is a song about possibilities. “It’s not a full-fledged cheatin’ song,” says the 6’2” entertainer from Virginia. “But it really wants to be.”
Folks say my feet are firm to the ground / And I’ve never been the kind / To lay my heart down on the line / But that all changed the day you came to town / Let’s take a chance on takin’ this too far / My heart’s Ready For The Takin’ when you are (T. Nixon/N. Nixon)
It’s a song that holds great personal meaning for Trace who wrote the song with his father, Nick Nixon. “Dad started this back in the late ‘90s,” Trace recalls. “I always liked what he had, so a few months before I recorded my EP we took a run at finishing it. I’m really proud of where it ended up.”
The track, from Nixon’s October 3 project release, Hand Me Down Name, produced by William Gawley, pulls the listener in with a rolling rhythm. The instrumentation shows a touch of the singer’s Bluegrass heritage and gives him a chance to point his pickin’ power in that direction.
